One hundred percent of employment services in Australia are outsourced to the private and voluntary sectors. Until the sale of our Australian operations in 2007, we were one of the country’s largest providers of employment services under the government’s Job Network contract (now known as Job Services Australia) with 44 offices across the country providing support to around 55,000 people per year.
We were also a highly respected provider of the Personal Support Programme – a specialist programme which provided a pathway between crisis services and employment assistance for people deemed the hardest to help including people with drug/alcohol dependency, homelessness, generational unemployment, psychological conditions or mental illness, domestic violence issues, financial management difficulties, social isolation, and physical and intellectual disabilities. We worked with them to build their strengths and capabilities and to move into work programmes, study or vocational training; to increase their engagement with the community; to move into stable accommodation; and to improve their life skills. Similar to this was the Job Placement and Employment and Training programme we provided to young people aged 15 to 19 who were homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Our business was founded in 1989 on assisting injured workers or people with health conditions to return to work and we worked closely with the government, employers and insurers to provide rehabilitation, injury management and corporate health programmes. We assisted clients to develop strategies to reduce absenteeism, reduce downtime caused by injury and illness, minimise exposure to compensation claims and other legal claims, reduce workers compensation claims and premiums, assist employees to maintain optimal health and wellbeing and make it easier to get injured workers back to work.
Complementing our employment services and injury management businesses were:
- our training company, Invisage - a registered training organisation with more than 30 years experience in delivering and developing corporate training, public courses, traineeships, coaching and mentoring, and personal development training
- our recruitment company, Clements - a provider of permanent, contract, part-time or casual staff across executive, IT, clerical and administration positions. Clements also specialised in labour hire for the manufacturing, service and agricultural industries.
The Ingeus group’s global headquarters remain in Brisbane, Australia.
