Ingeus’ new online employability platform – iWorks – was the ideal option for 28-year-old Sue, who is affected by a social phobia that creates intense anxiety when visiting large and busy areas.
Although Sue from Blackpool wanted to find new work after losing her role in a small shop, she was nervous about mixing with other people in group settings. After receiving reassurance, Sue was referred by Andrea Mitchell, her Work Coach at Fleetwood Jobcentre Plus, to the WHP JETS programme.
Ingeus Employment Coach Lisa Dennis arranged a series of one-to-one support sessions to help build up Sue’s confidence and to practise answering common interview questions. Lisa also recommended that Sue explore the iWorks online platform to gain further insights.
“I found the iWorks interview simulator really helpful,” said Sue. “There is an option to record yourself answering questions and then receive feedback on your delivery. You find out if you’re good at maintaining eye contact when speaking and if there were pauses when responding to questions. There’s also advice on illustrating different competencies to a prospective employer by suggesting previous work experience.”
Lisa explained: “Sue had great customer service expertise and was very good at talking to people on a one-to-one basis. I suggested that she apply for a telephone-based customer service role, working from home.”
Sue added: “I got the job and I started in January. I am trying a new role and I’m excited about the future. My Employment Coach Lisa has been very encouraging and supportive every step of the way.”
